Terms of Service

Skim is an iOS app that turns documents you upload into study cards using AI. It is provided “as is” without warranty. We do our best to make it reliable, but we can’t guarantee perfect uptime, perfect accuracy of generated content, or that the service will always be available in its current form.

• You need a valid Apple ID or Google account to sign in.
• You are responsible for keeping your account secure.
• One person per account. No sharing logins.
• You must be at least 13 years old. Under 18? You represent that a parent or guardian has permitted your use.

• You own your documents. We claim no rights to them.
• You grant us a limited license to process your documents (extract text, send to Google Gemini, store the generated cards) solely to provide the service to you.
• You represent that you have the right to upload each document — you own it, you have permission, or it is public-domain / fair-use for your study purposes.
• Don’t upload: content you don’t have rights to, malware, or anything illegal in your jurisdiction.

• Study cards and AI-tutor responses are generated by Google Gemini based on your document’s text.
• AI output can contain errors. Don’t use cards for medical, legal, or financial decisions. Always verify critical information against the source.
• We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

• Skim offers Free, Pro, and Ultra tiers. Tier limits are described in-app and on our pricing page.
• Auto-renewing subscriptions are billed by Apple. Cancel anytime in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
• Free trials: if you start a trial and don’t cancel before it ends, you’ll be billed at the full rate.
• Refunds: handled by Apple. Contact Apple Support directly for refund requests; we can’t issue refunds ourselves.
• Price changes: we’ll notify you via email and in-app at least 30 days before any price increase, and give you a chance to cancel.

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app.
• Use automated tools to scrape or stress-test our servers.
• Process illegal content.
• Impersonate anyone else.
• Resell or rebrand the service.

If you break these terms, we may suspend or terminate your account.

• You can quit any time: Settings → Delete Account. It’s immediate.
• We may terminate your account if you break these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Skim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (so $0 for free-tier users, up to your subscription total otherwise).

We are not liable for lost data, lost study time, or the consequences of relying on AI-generated content.

• These terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence.
• If you and we disagree, we’ll try to resolve it informally first. If that fails, disputes go through the courts of your country.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of Skim after the effective date counts as acceptance.
